TROPHY MOOSE HUNTS We offer one of the best areas for trophy moose in North America. My area is located in a National Wildlife Refuge. I have been awarded an exclusive use permit for this area. I am the first guide to ever be issued a permit for this area. My area has received very little hunting pressure for over a decade, which has resulted in a prime population of trophy moose. Most of my hunters regularly take moose with 58 to 74 - inch spreads. Choose to hunt by boat from our comfortable base camp, or spend a night in one of our remote spike camps, where you can hear rut-crazed bulls thrashing in the brush near your tent. Our alpine spike camps for caribou and grizzly are in the mountains adjacent to our trophy moose area. Black bear and caribou are numerous, and can be taken in either location. The wide-open alpine country allows you time to select a trophy caribou bull. Our guides and packers expertly quarter and bone your meat and prepare your capes for the taxidermist of your choice. Pike fishing is excellent, as are waterfowl and grouse hunting. Our full-time cook will prepare an outstanding array of hearty meals that include chicken, steak, fresh rolls, salads and desserts. HUNTING METHODS There are fewer thrills in Alaska big game hunting than to watch a bull moose charge into an area, ready to do battle with eyes bulging out and back hair standing on end. All my guides are experienced callers. We can call moose to within 15 yards, which is especially attractive to archery hunts, who have experienced near 100 percent success. We use outboard equipped riverboats for transportation from the base and spike camps. With the use of these boats, we have unlimited access to the best moose habitat in North America. We also float rivers intercepting moose as they travel between rutting areas. Because we hunt the river bottom land, most trophies are taken with 1/4 mile from the river's edge. We glass the high alpine areas for grizzlies feeding on berries. Expect to spend several days in spike camp before returning to base camp with your trophy. |
